Just finished spending over an hour redoing both filters and changing 3/4 of the water while removing what was left of one of the two remaining big fish. Tank is still a bit cloudy so no picture today maybe once it settles down.

Needless to say the turtles are high on my s-list today and they are smart enough to know that is not a good place as I control the food supply and tank maintenance.

They have watched over this past week as I put together my latest product Twitter Time Saver and decided that I should tell you about it here. That way if you buy it they can move off the s-list. Twitter has become more and more a big part of my business. The problem with Twitter when I started was three fold.

They have built that authority and you need to do the same on Twitter.

Even more important on Twitter is to be a sharer of quality information on what ever the topic is that you have built your followers on. Finding that information can take a lot of time but there are tools that can help you.

The turtles and I were doing our daily check through Twitter when we saw this post from Nicole Dean – Twitter Followers: Wear them on a t-shirt?. It is where we found the site to create our Twitter mosaic above. Check the site out, create your mosaic and look to the left side. It will become clear shortly.

The point of the post though is what really interested me. (The turtles don’t have any curiosity for anything other than what is under the next rock so you are stuck with what attracts my attention.)

She was talking about taking advantage of your own creativity and combining that with what is hot. The people that created Twitter Mosaic got it. They will sell me a t-shirt, a mug or other items where I can get all of my followers added to it.

How many things do you see every day that you could come up with a twist like that?

That is one of the keys to finding profitable niches and ultimately creating your own product for that niche. Quite often the turtles will stack up as they are laying on the dock. It seems to help them get closer to the top of the tank.

The turtles despite being quite competitive at times often work cooperatively to accomplish things that none of them can do individually. Unfortunately for me this often leads to them knocking over the things I have in the tank. They accomplish what they want despite how I feel.

Cooperative effort and interaction are the key to the various Web 2.0 properties. Blogs allow comments from readers, Twitter allows you to interact regularly with people. All of these allow you to build a relationship with people and relationships are the key to creating the trust necessary to move people from suspects to buyers.

After all your potential customers are not stuck in a small space like the turtles so it becomes harder to build the necessary relationship and trust. The turtles because of proximity don’t have any choice.

Yesterday I wrote about the new addition to the tank. You need to look at the picture closely to see the new addition. Gizzard looms over Baby and yes that is the new turtle’s name.

I did notice a few things though that can be applied to your on line business. Baby adapted within two hours. He stopped hiding and took his rightful place on the ramp.

He also quickly discovered that the far back corner was the safe place to sleep. As you have seen before when I have talked about stacking he did not want to get under one of the big guys with the size difference.

Now the question is how quickly do you adapt with your business?

It is becoming more and more of a Web 2.0 world and if you are not creating your own tribe (Check out Seth Godin’s book Tribes ) using the resources that are available or you may get squashed as Baby quickly discovered.

See it is easy to control a very specific area of your market with today’s tools.

• Blogs
• Twitter
• Facebook
• Squidoo
• Hub Pages
• and many more

Now you can’t and should not be trying to master all of these at one time. But…

There is no reason you should not be taking a set period of time each week to add these in.

All of these can be intertwined too as you add the next one.

For example:

Each time I post here Tweet My Blog makes a post to let my Twitter friends know there is a new post. The RSS feed on any Squidoo lens that is tied to this blog updates. Same with Facebook, Hub Pages and others.

See one little action here is leveraged many times over. As not everyone that visits the Squidoo lens is already on this blog or my Twitter friend or a Facebook friend etc. the wave continues.

Like throwing a pebble into a pond the one little action continues to expand exponentially.

If you are not it is time to adapt like Baby did or get squashed by those that do.

Yesterday we discussed how the three turtles now had to compete for food with the very fish that were originally intended to be their food. Things can quickly change if you don’t take advantage of them. Had they eaten the fish when they were first added they would not have the competition they do now.

One of the tools that anyone marketing on the internet needs to compete is an autoresponder. I personally use and recommend AWeber. There are numerous reasons why and today they just announced another advantage to set them apart from the competition.

The basic purpose of an autoresponder is to send email at set time frames or allow you to send a broadcast email. There are a few things AWeber has already done to make themselves stand out like

• Great deliverability
• Tracking of clicks and opens
• Allowing you to broadcast multiple lists and removes dupes automatically
• Allow you to create an RSS feed of your broadcasts

But there are others that do this too. Today they embraced Twitter.

You may notice on the side bar of this blog I have my Twitter posts showing. Twitter has become an excellent way for me to keep up and converse with my friends and subscribers.

Now here is why this is important – Now when I send an email I can have AWeber automatically tweet (post to Twitter for me) so those that are not subscribers but have followed me on Twitter can be notified and go read the email online that I just sent.

With all of the spam filters and problems with email delivery this gives me another way to get my message out. It is easy to use and makes another option for people to get the information from me in the way they want the best.

Plus using some of the other tools like Friend Feed can allow me to get that message to others in many social networks. This is the true power of social networking and now my email marketing can be integrated into that automatically.
