The turtles are basically extremely lazy. As long as they are fed they are much more likely to be laying on the ramp, sleeping on the bottom or just hanging from something. There is no need if their belly is full to do anything else but relax.

Now if they are hungry or even suspect that they can get more food then that changes. The splashing starts and I have seen Gizzard get a 1/3 of her body out of the water and make a huge mess to attract my attention.

One of the good things about lazy people or lazy turtles is that they do tend to be much more efficient. They only do what they need to do to get the result they want. The turtles know that they can make as much of a ruckus as they want to after the morning feed and it will be wasted effort so they use that time to veg out.

They understand how to leverage their efforts to get as much as they can.

This is where the power of having a product comes in with your business. It is something you can leverage. Yes you need to make a splash (put in some effort) to get it started but once you have a product you can sell it over and over and get paid off that effort more than once.

If you add an affiliate program you can even get others to do your promotion and still get paid while vegging out. This is an idea the turtles totally embrace.

Having your own product is one of the keys to growing your business. Yet every time I have done a survey of my readers the vast majority do not have one.

With the amount of quality PLR or private label rights products available this is not something that has to hold you back.

So you understand private label rights is not something new to the internet. It has been done in off line products for years.

When I worked for the liquor distributor many years ago we would deliver liquor of various types to a variety of stores with the store’s name on the label. Now the stores did not distill the item they just bought the item and had their label added to it.

You see this in the grocery stores all the time. You will see the Giant brand green beans right next to the ones with a Green Giant label. You can be sure that Giant is not buying and processing the green beans to cans from the farmers. In a lot of cases they may be processed in the same place and only the label on the can is different.

This week there have been two PLR releases of quality products and if you don’t have a product of your own you definitely should grab one of these.

The weather has been changing here in the north east and it has had an effect on the turtles. This year it has been much more noticeable with the turtle tank at the front of the house near the windows..

As the temperature has dropped so has the activity of the turtles. They will spend more and more time just lounging on the bottom and are eating significantly less.

Because of the lesser activity there are still fish in the tank 2 weeks after they joined the environment. Instead of being aggressive and consuming the fish the turtles have become very laid back. Not unexpected as they are cold blooded and as it cools they slow down. The fish are quite happy about it.

This is quite normal for turtles but it can be very dangerous for your business.

Well last night I had steak for dinner and decided to give the turtles a treat. Put a small piece in the tank while they were all relaxing up top and World War III started. Gizzard got it first and raced from end to end trying to keep from sharing it.

Didn’t work though. All three of the big turtles had control at different times until it was totally devoured.

Now the turtles are well fed and had eaten their regular food an hour or so before. That is why they were up top basking. It wasn’t hunger that was driving the frenzy. They might jockey for position during feeding but nothing like they do for any kind of real meat.

It was the want and desire for something different not a need that made them go nuts. Something to consider when looking for items to sell.

Yes you need to do the research and check keywords, yada, yada, yada. I did an article the other day on just that topic on another blog about picking PLR products.

The key though is it was the want that drove the frenzy. After all they weren’t hungry they had just eaten. (Kinda like me with cheese cake – there is always room for good cheese cake).

Same with products which is why the latest PLR bundle from Doug Champigny has been flying out the door. (He always limits it to just 100 copies and adds articles and audios so you get great value).

This topic is one that is hot – Aromatherapy – and as smell is what drives people it is good solid niche so the frenzy began.

Always find ways to put the wants in, whether you are doing copy, writing an email or selecting a product. The want will allow you to create the frenzy even with well fed customers.

Seems like a stupid question but I do want you to think today. I know that is almost as bad as the 4 letter word work. But there is a reason I am asking the question because in some ways your customers and readers will follow what the turtles do. Use this to your advantage and you will be smarter than a turtle.

Now I always have fish in the tank and turtles feed on fish. Why are the fish still there?

Because the turtles don’t like the idea of taking the effort (ie – work) to catch them. I feed them regularly so rather than take the effort to catch the fish they wait on me to supply their food.

Now occasionally I am away and Maude forgets to feed them or at least not at their regular time. Once they get hungry enough they will take the effort and I end up with one less fish but…

It is only when they get really hungry that it is worth the effort and it is usually just one that does the work but once the fish is caught all of them are more than willing to help with the eating. It becomes a real tug of war in the tank.

Nice story now how does it apply to you and your business?

My supposition is that most of your customers and subscribers are like the turtles. If you are not making money online easily you probably are too.

Here is how I came to that conclusion. Just checked some stats this am and was checking out how I was doing by participating in The Free PLR Giveaway 6.

• Subscribers – 643
• Sales of offer on the verification page – $97
• One oto sale from the site – $23.50
• 23 new downline off the thank you page ad

Now those may not get you excited but I gave away a report that was re-purposed from my blog content. Added a squeeze page system to it (signup verify and download pages) and gave away PLR to all of it but did include the pdf ready to go.

My total time putting the package together was about 3 hours. As you can see I have already netted $120 for that 3 hours not counting anything I make from the new subscribers and this still runs until Sunday so the figures will be bigger.

The content was written on the blog already. Needed to create an image and the pages. Now all of the pages have a thank you page ad already on them.

Now if you grabbed this because I gave you an easy way to use it (the squeeze page system) are you going to take the extra effort to edit the book, change the graphics and make it yours or are you going to use it as is and wait for me to feed you?

Once you answer that you will know if you are smarter than a turtle.

If you are going to create PLR and it is easy to both use and create (if you are blogging regularly the content is already done for you) then you need to make sure that you give people an easy way to use it and the right way. Finally I am putting together a step by step report on exactly how I did this project and some other monetization that is not even mentioned here that will continue to pay me for this effort into the future. Competition even amongst the turtles can be fierce. Now I still have no idea why they love to eat certain rocks but they do. In this picture Gizmo is pushing Gizzie out of his preferred area. The 3 big turtles always seem to want to compete over the same small are of rocks despite the fact that there are plenty of other areas where they can sort to find their rock throughout the bottom of the tank.

But no…

They have to all be in the same area. Kind of like watching some internet marketers. They all want to compete against each other in the same small arena and keep pushing and shoving for attention. Now if you are big and strong enough to dominate the others that can be fine. Unfortunately, that is not most of us.

Baby on the other hand seems to be the smartest of the turtles.

While the other three are all fighting each other she goes and finds the little places that the others are just too big to get in easily.

She takes advantage of her smaller size and gets the cream of the rocks in the areas where they don’t fit.

She doesn’t have to fight an unfair battle against the much bigger turtles and can search for her rocks in relative peace because the others just don’t want to put in the effort to dominate a small piece they would rather compete for bragging rights against each other.

Niche marketing is using Baby’s tactics. This morning the other three are still busy fighting each other for rocks and she has already gotten what she wants and she is up on top of the ramp relaxing.

One of the things that I love about information is how easily you can become very well informed and in a very short time learn an awful lot about a topic. Now these 3 lovely turtles are a lot of fun but they have become quite expensive.

• They eat as much as you will give them
• The tank needs filters running constantly (added electricity)
• New pieces for the filter
• And hopefully they won’t need a vet (closest one for me about 60 miles that deals with turtles)

As I have had problems I have scoured the internet for information and already know about 95% more than the average person that just decides to start with a turtle as a pet. (See I am almost an expert on these little critters in just a few months because I had an interest in learning about them.)

15 minutes a day in research can teach you a whole lot very quickly.

Now to overcoming expenses after all that was the title here.

Started doing some research on products that are available for turtles with an affiliate program. Looked at how much traffic the various terms are getting and what type of competition there is. Can you guess how I plan to offset the upkeep of my three lovelies?

Yes I will be putting up a site with information on turtles that will test the market to see what people will buy . Will it work? Not sure but preliminary research looks okay and as I want them to be self sufficient and have the money for the outdoor pond that is coming it is worth a try. Would be neat if I can pay for the outside pond from the site. If affiliate marketing works may look to create a product there as a next step.

How does this apply to you?

Well Christmas is coming. Christmas here is definitely an outflow of money or in plain language damn expensive.

The turtles are continuing to grow like weeds and today I will be changing the water. Even with the best of filters they need ongoing maintenance. Your business is no different.

An easy way to save time and maintain growth in your business is by using PLR – both articles and products. To better help you this will be an ongoing topic here because if you are like I was you really don’t get PLR and the power of it.

For quite a while I was totally confused on using it properly. Then I met Doug Champigny at JV Alert in Philly this year.

Yes before that I had used PLR articles and rewrote them which was a great time saver but…

There is so much more you can do with PLR especially PLR products if you know what to do. (Quite a few that I didn’t before I met Doug.)

Well Doug put together a great e-course on using PLR and was offering it for free. Unfortunately that is coming to an end really soon. the course will stioll be available but it won’t be free.

Most people totally miss the power of PLR or Private Label Rights articles, ebooks and software. The power can be huge and the odds are you are missing the boat because so many people are afraid of a little 4 letter word – WORK.

First what is PLR?

PLR stands for Private Label Rights and when you purchase them you can use them and claim authorship. You can create a product that is yours very quickly that you can sell, giveaway or even set up an affiliate program and let other people help you sell it.

Why PLR sometimes gets a bad name

Part of it is there are some worthless PLR products out there but that is not the major problem. The major problem is laziness. Most people just grab the product,throw up the sales letter that comes with it and then make the big mistake.

They try to sell on price because they are scared of competition.

Think about that for a minute. If you are taking the easy way and just doing the same thing as everyone else then the only advantage you think is price and the product quickly becomes devalued.

Do that once or twice and now you figure that this PLR thing is worthless. Sound familiar to you?

Now lets look at how you can use PLR to your benefit.

If all you do is create some new graphics for the book cover and sales letter and change a few things on the sales letter you now have a unique product. No one else has this product and you can do this in just a few hours. This is something you should be able to do yourself and if you can’t I recommend you check out Design Dashboard.

Even if you decide to out source it you can get this done for you for less than $100 depending on your out sourcer.

Now lets look at what happens. You have a unique product and no are no longer competing against everyone else that bought the rights. Even factoring in the cost of graphics you can now sell your product at your price for this example we’ll use $27 versus competing against people selling the same thing on Ebay at 99 cents.

Doesn’t that tilt the field in your favor just a little bit?

The second thing is to add YOUR bio, your recommended links in the book so you have backend items that make you money too.

Next if you are a bit more ambitious you can take two or more books on the same topic and combine them. Take the best out of each and make a truly unique book. Add new graphics and your own sales letter and now you have your product.

Now you have a product and the work you put in is measured in hours instead of days.

Another way to use this is as a giveaway for generating sign ups to your list. Now in the IM area my warm up email series generates $1.30 or more from subscriber. If I put together a killer book or software that is targeted to my area and use it to generate subscribers I do three things.

One – I give the new subscriber some great information and make myself a credible source and someone they want to listen to.

Two - I have added appropriate links in the book and make back end profits.

Three – I can continue to build the relationship and make sales down the line.

Another way to use this type of content is as articles and blog posts. This means if you have multiple PLR books on the same topic you can use one for content to generate traffic and the other to sell to that traffic.

As you can see PLR can be a very powerful way to increase your business.

If you are not taking advantage of the savings and profits you can generate from PLR products it is costing you money and more importantly your time.
