Proper positioning matters
By admin | November 17, 2008
I was relaxing earlier today and the kids saw me so they all jumped in and started splashing. That is their sign that they want my attention and more importantly they want to be fed. (They always want to eat they should be called pigs not turtles
)
But…
It was feeding time so I went over opened the lid and added some food. Now I don’t know if it is a vision thing but they just can’t seem to eat the food unless they get under it.
See they can get above the water with their heads, make lots of splashes and get lots of attention and even get what they want. (Me to add food.)
But as long as they keep their heads above water they can’t consume what they have just created all the fuss to get. It is not until they submerge and look for the food from underneath that they can actually consume it and nourish their bodies.
This made me think about the average web business. We all need to make a splash and get attention to get what we want. If you are smart it is subscribers that you can contact again and again.
The real key though is not the attention (although that is very important) it is the things that you don’t see on the surface that sustain you. Just like the turtles the attention they grab is necessary to get my attention but until they stop splashing and drop under the surface they can’t eat.
For you as a marketer the surface (getting the person to click your subscribe button is just the beginning.
The offer on the verification page, the structure of the warm up email series and many more little things are what generates the revenue to make your business thrive.
Beginners List Formula was created to walk you through these little steps that make a huge difference in your results. Created to give you the step by step plan to make sure that you set up the proper structure under the surface.
After all you can keep splashing and driving traffic but if you never set up the process below the surface you will be a very hungry marketer just like the turtles can’t eat until they go below the surface first.
As always your questions and comments are welcomed.

A very good informative post Mike!
I think we all see it happen to often where a new beginner marketer, and even more advanced ones, forget or do not realize the importance of creating “proper structure under the surface”.
That really is where the long term money can be made. Do not just pay attention to the surface!

Great post again, Mike!
Positioning is a crucial yet often overlooked part of back-end sales, and it applies to everything from opt-ins to downloads to webinars and teleseminars.

Mike,
Great information. The newbie (I think I still classify myself as that
) needs to get a grasp on the fundamentals before he can jump in the pond a swim with the big turtles
Keep the info coming…loving it!
