Happy New Year from the 3 turtles and baby too
By admin | January 1, 2009
Now quite truthfully the turtles don’t celebrate New Year’s nor did they care about Christmas or any other holiday. They pay attention to the important things for them. Food, relaxation and creating a mess in the tank.
That is their priorities with food being at the top of the list.
Now they can get quite creative if they don’t get what they are looking for. the holiday season created a perfect example.
Now I have been visiting friends and family and generally have been relaxing and doing some traveling. Because of that their feeding schedule has become a bit undisciplined to say the least.
They expect to get fed regularly. Normally they do and just accept it as their due. With traveling and the disruption they have on occasion not gotten fed at exactly the time they were conditioned to and really let me know about it when I did arrive home.
Nothing like walking in the door and hearing all kinds of splashing and looking over and seeing the tank water all churned up. They can’t speak but they sure can get your attention and display their displeasure when they want to.
Side note – No turtles were abused during this and looking at their size they have not suffered from their meals being delayed at times. They are almost as fat as the Turtle Dad.
Now as expected there is a lesson in this tale and it is not that turtles can make a lot of noise splashing when they aren’t getting what they expected.
Your subscribers are similar to the turtles but with a major difference. Unlike the turtles they are not stuck in a tank and have to wait for my return and then express their displeasure.
They express their displeasure in an entirely different way. They either click the unsubscribe button or they just start deleting your emails unread. Either option is not a good thing for you. After all you have disappointed them.
This is one reason that using a regularly scheduled newsletter and meeting your subscribers expectations is very important.
That is why your autoresponder is one of your best tools. Preloading your newsletter and scheduling it in advance is one of the easiest ways to not disappoint your subscribers when your schedule gets hectic (like during the holidays
).
Now that can be a bit of work but what isn’t that is worthwhile?
If you would like to save on some of that dreaded 4 letter word work though you can grab 100 newsletters for a very inexpensive price and load your autoresponder for the next two years if you send a weekly ezine and even longer if you send less often. Check out Instant Newsletters and don’t leave your subscribers disappointed when life gets in the way.
Again wishing you a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year from the turtles and The Turtle Dad.

Taking proper care of your subscribers and customers is the only way to succeed.
You are right Mike, if you set a certain way of doing business but then change it (by not emailing, or changing your business methods), your subscribers will notice, and if they don’t like it, they may leave.
Once you have established your business in a certain way, it’s best to keep it that way and only changing slightly over time.

You are so right about that conditioning. And when it is not met you get the upset people just like the turtles. It is hard to believe that someone would be like that and expect things on a regular basis, wait a minute that sounds like me. Duh!

Mike,
Not much time to read turtle stories today, but is there something in common with three german shephards and one small maltese needing to hang around me because of firecrackers going off…. not to mention a fighter fish someone put next to me laptop for me to give five miniscule little balls daily to keep him alive…he seems hungry…but I promised no more then five…
