Three Turtle Marketing

turtle 051

Every so often one of the turtles will start trying to swim against the glass. Here is a perfect example.

Gizmo kept trying to swim through the glass. He was really going at it and not accomplishing anything at all except to push his face against the glass harder.

The lack of results did not stop him and he probably tried this for 10 minutes without stopping.

Ever feel like that is your normal day in trying to build your business. You paddle like hell but seem to just be pushing your face against the glass and accomplishing nada?

I know the feeling. Been there, done that, even got the t-shirt.

There are so many things to learn when you are starting out and it seems like each project has so many pieces.

Add in the latest bright shiny object that catches your attention and you start off down a new rabbit trail. All these new things to learn to grab this new shiny object.

So what ends up happening is that you have 14 different partially done things.

The problem in this business is that unlike a job you don’t get paid for partial completion. If I am creating a blog I don’t make anything until there is content that is drawing traffic who are clicking through and buying what I recommended. Then I get paid.

This is why it is important to focus on one thing and finish it so it will either succeed or fail. (Oh yes didn’t you know some things will fail. All the time you invested you won’t get paid for.)

That is one of the reasons I have become a proponent of Robert Plank’s Time Management On Crack. He shows you how to focus on one item, get it done and launched. Now you find out if it works.

If it does you can expand it, make it better, but better to know right away if you are going the wrong way and people don’t want what you are creating. Spend 6 months on a project and be wrong and it is a killer.

Spend a couple days and it does not work not a major hit.

So the turtles and I both say stop hitting your head against the glass, use your time wisely and effectively. Go get Time Management On Crack and apply the lessons to your business.

While I’m not sure I like the mental picture of turtles on crack, I must say you’re dead on again with this post, Mike!

Time management and disciplined self-focus are the hardest concepts to grasp for most newbie marketers, and even some more advanced work-at-home practitioners. If Robert’s book does half as much to help marketers save time and stay organized that your Twitter Time Saver report does, it’ll be another valuable add to the library!

You are right Mike, you need to finish a project before you can start profiting from it.

This Time Management in Crack might help you with that.

I sometimes feel like Gizmo. Just keep wanting to bang my head against the wall. Just not as tough. Anything that will assist with time management makes me a big fan. I will have to check it out. Thanks.

Sounds like Gizmo was doing what we call running into a brick wall. I’ve done that a lot. Only
14 different partially done things.-:) It’s hard to stay focused. Not only are there business distractions but also all kinds of other things that come along that also have to be worked into the schedule and generally something has to slip and focus is gone. But you just have to pick up and continue. Thanks for the reminder that we need to complete things.

I feel like Gizmo every day. I feel like I spend most of my time distracted and just spinning my wheels.

I am going to be taking a definite hard look at Robert’s Time Management on Crack. Looks like a great product.

Thanks for the tip, because I do need some help

I too have attention deficit syndrome where I flit from one thing to the next. I recently read someones comment about taking massive action, and stressing that it’s not just taking massive action but taking massive action all the way to completion.
