Authority counts

Three Turtle Marketing

turtle 044The turtles are always jockeying for authority. It seems the spot at the top is usually the one everyone jockeys for. Today Gizzard had the coveted spot and I watched him fend off other challengers until the others left him alone to enjoy his spot at the top. The picture to the left is him enjoying the fruits of his effort.

Now it isn’t that easy every day and it does change day to day.

Reminds me of Google and what they do. Check the listings for a topic three days in a row and it is not unusual to see some changes. Other topics it rarely changes.

The ones that don’t change much are usually for a simple reason. Google has decided that these sites are the authority in that topic. Create that kind of site site and you can get lots of traffic from the Big G.

The problem is knowing how to create the type of site that Google feels is the authority on the topic. It isn’t hard but does take effort.

You do need a plan and to understand how you can use good quality content and a variety of Web 2.0 sites to create that authority. Doesn’t happen over night but can be well worth the effort.

If you would like a plan on how to do this step by step check out Authority Site 2.0. Then after you have fended the others off you can relax and bask like Gizzard is.

You touched on a good point, that getting a site to rank high as an authority site will not happen over night. I think many marketing beginners hope that and think that it should happen quickly.

Setting up a proper site that truly gives value to the visitor (and not just a quick site to get listed high) will take time. But it will be worth it to you and your visitors.

    Mike,

Google rankings are changing daily. So is my adsense income. Not often a reason (at least not to me and google isn’t sharing that with me either).

However I do notice more steady adsense income from authority sites.

Reason to do this step by step check out described in Authority Site 2.0.

    Mike,

How big ARE those turtles anyway??

Maybe you could coin a new phrase ‘Top Turtles’ instead of Top Dog…

    Just a thought.

Great info on what you need to do to be considered an ‘authority’.

    Keep up the good work.

About 4 inches from the front of shell to the back for the big ones. Can get to 12 inches so still have room to grow ;)

Sounds like your gonna need a bigger tank!

    Great info Mike,

I have picked up your Authority Site ebook and am looking forward to turning my websites into authority sites so I can sit back and relax ;-)

    Yeah Right!

Just means it’s time to move on to the next site and the next and so on.

Fantastic ebook by the way! Going to be printing this one out and keeping it next to my laptop for reference when needed.

E-books like this are the reason I bought a Cerlox binding machine – when I find one I know I’m going to refer back to time and again I print the front and back on card stock and zip in the spiral binding.

That way I can refer back to them over and over with ease, and they sit nicely in my desktop bookshelf. And yes, already I can tell I’ll be back to this one over and over – you’ve done a great job with it, Mike!

Authority is something that is sometimes hard to come by. But your turtles have done it. Of course your blueprint was not well hidden from them.

    Thanks, Lonnie
